MISS MYAGI Launches ‘Bags for Change’ Art Auction to Support Yennenga Progress

Updated: 4 days ago

Swedish artist MISS MYAGI has launched Art Bags, also known as Bags for Change — a creative fundraising initiative in support of the nonprofit foundation Yennenga Progress. The project transforms donated handbags from well-known female public figures into one-of-a-kind artworks, which are then auctioned to raise funds for the foundation’s work. The story behind the bags

Each bag is reimagined as a symbolic art piece inspired by the theme of the Warrior Princess Gala and the legendary story of the warrior princess Yennenga. One bag, inspired by the late opera director Kjerstin Dellert, is titled Killing ’em with Kindness. In Yennenga’s colors, the piece features ammunition that blossoms instead of harming — a visual metaphor for resistance to oppression and the power of transformation. A reinterpretation of the iconic Mona Lisa appears on the bag, holding a weapon that evolves into something organic and alive, while every stone and detail has been repurposed from second-hand jewelry. Another bag pays tribute to legendary Swedish artist Lill Lindfors. Titled Best of Lills´, it draws inspiration from Lindfors’ vibrant stage career and iconic costumes. Designed like a playful collage reminiscent of vintage paper dolls, the bag weaves together musical elements, song titles and instruments — celebrating both the Warrior Princess theme and Lindfors’ fearless presence as an artist.

Together, the Art Bags transform personal fashion items into powerful visual statements — and into tangible support for Yennenga Progress’ mission. Link to the auction >> HERE
